Comanche Cares, a community giving initiative by Comanche Nation Entertainment, made the 2020 holiday season brighter for hundreds of Oklahoma families with its annual Toy Drive. More than 1,000 toys were distributed to organizations and nonprofits throughout Southwest Oklahoma to spread holiday cheer to local children in need.

In return for their generosity, guests received double the amount of their donation in Comanche Credit. Comanche Nation Entertainment gave a record breaking $46,856 in credit, which equated to more than $20,000 in toy donations.

“Despite the millions of dollars we allotted towards safety and sanitization upgrades this year, our staff and community partners worked hard to organize and continue this great tradition of giving back to families in need during the holiday,” said Mia Tahdooahnippah, CEO of Comanche Nation Entertainment. “We look forward to our Comanche Cares toy drive each year because it truly makes a difference in our community. During our 2020 toy drive, our customers showed how important it was to them too by how many of them graciously donated new toys for our local children to enjoy during the holiday season.”

In December, Comanche Cares collected new and unwrapped toys from all four of its casino properties: Comanche Nation Casino in Lawton, Comanche Star Casino in Walters, Comanche Spur Casino in Elgin, and Comanche Red River Hotel Casino in Devol near Wichita Falls. All donated toys were distributed to local nonprofit organizations, including Team Jaden Foundation, Comanche Nation Police Department, Comanche Nation Tribe and Fletcher Christmas Store, an organization that offers free holiday gifts to families in need.

“I am humbled to see how our we can come together even in the midst of this uncertain time and help those in need. We want to thank all those who helped us bring a little bit of joy to our community, especially in a year that has been hard on so many families,” Tahdooahnippah said. “Every child deserves a gift to unwrap during the holidays, and our supporters make that possible.”

Comanche Cares organizes charitable events year-round, with drives for school supplies, food and toys.
